SYNOPSIS:
"The Good Dinosaur" asks the question: What if the asteroid that forever changed life on Earth missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct? Pixar Animation Studios takes you on an epic journey into the world of dinosaurs where an Apatosaurus named Arlo makes an unlikely human friend. While traveling through a harsh and mysterious landscape, Arlo learns the power of confronting his fears and discovers what he is truly capable of. - Disney/Pixar

ROG'S VIEWPOINT: 3 CAMS cameracameracamera
This is far and away one of the best looking animated features ever made - filled with lush landscapes, raging rapids and spectacular cloud formations. But this story of friendship and family is rather formulaic and lacks the imagination of earlier Pixar creations, even with some cute and memorable characters. Sam Elliott has the most recognizable voice as the cowboy dad of a T. Rex family. Like the best of Disney, there is tragedy followed by triumph that pulls on the heartstrings. Parents beware: moments of danger are so realistic that younger children will be frightened. The 3D version adds depth to the realism, but very little flies out of the screen. There's a terrific and imaginative cartoon short that precedes this feature. "Sanjay's Super Team" tells the story of a young Indian boy who daydreams of Hindu gods as superheroes while his father meditates. This delightful concoction is worth the price of admission. While Pixar probably has another monster hit, "The Good Dinosaur" should have been better.
