Disney's SHORT FILMS COLLECTION DVD

ROG'S VIEWPOINT

This fantastic Blu-ray release features 12 delightful Disney animated shorts. Most noteworthy is the home video debut of "Frozen Fever", starring the main cast of "Frozen". The other entries: "Get A Horse!", "Feast", "Tangled Ever After", "Paperman", "The Ballad Of Nessie", "Tick Tock Tale", "Prep & Landing - Operation: Secret Santa", "The Little Matchgirl", "Lorenzo", "John Henry" and "How To Hook Up Your Home Theater".

This Blu-ray + DVD + Digital HD combo pack (released on 8/18/15) is filled with some of the studio's finest shorts. While most of them have been previously available on other Blu-ray and DVD releases, this is the first time they appear together on one spectacular disc. The video and audio live up to Disney perfection. The extras include filmmaker intros and an animation roundtable hosted by actor T.J. Miller ("Big Hero 6") called "@DisneyAnimation: A Short Story On Shorts". There's also an exclusive digital extra for Disney Movies Anywhere: the 1995 Mickey Mouse cartoon "Runaway Brain". The only disappointment is the absence of the 3D versions of those in the collection that were released in that dimension. "Get A Horse!" features the best use of 3D in many years and deserves a release in that home format for fans. Hopefully, the studio will release a 3D Blu-ray Short Films Collection. If so, please include Walt's 1950s 3D cartoons: "Melody" and "Working for Peanuts". Until then, this 2D version is a pleasing animation feast.
