TRIVIA: Hugh Grant and Sarah Jessica Parker starred in which 1996 theatrical thriller? ROG'S VIEWPOINT ![]() ![]()
(3 CAMS) RATED PG-13Estranged couple Paul (Hugh Grant) and Meryl (Sarah Jessica Parker) Morgan witness a murder in New York City and are relocated to a small Wyoming town as part of a protection program. Local law enforcement agent Clay Wheeler (Sam Elliott) and his wife Emma (Mary Steenburgen) have their hands full keeping the bickering pair together and protecting them. "Did You Hear About The Morgans?" is harmless and mindless matinee entertainment. There's nothing much to think about in this movie that is simple to follow and even simpler to predict. Director Marc Lawrence ("Two Weeks Notice") keeps the camera focused on his two stars for obvious reasons. The lack of chemistry between Hugh Grant and Sarah Jessica Parker actually works in favor of the film - adding a little tension before the inevitable showdown. More scenes with Sam Elliott and Mary Steenburgen would have been appreciated. Their characters add enough interest to give this lightweight comedy a marginal recommend. Will a professional hitman find the Morgans? Will he suddenly lose his killing skills when confronting them? Will the couple get back together? These are a few of the easy-to-answer questions in the questionable "Did You Hear About The Morgans?".
